Cut-resistant & mechanical protection gloves

A cut-resistant glove is rated for mechanical risk, including a cut level, for blades, glass and edges. It is often worn under or over a disposable glove when both a cut and a splash are present. The cut level on the marking is the specification. It does not, by itself, resist a solvent.

A glove is a barrier on the hand, and the barrier is only as good as the hazard it was tested against. Nitrile, latex and vinyl disposable gloves are for splash and for incidental contact. A chemical-resistant glove is a different article, tested for permeation by named chemicals. A cut-resistant glove is for blades and edges. Cold and heat need yet another material.
