Description

RPMI 1640 medium without glucose and L-glutamine is a classical cell-culture basal medium supplied in a 500 ml pack. Originally developed for the long-term culture of blood cells and human leukocytes, including neoplastic white blood cells, it is widely used today as a general medium (with serum supplementation) for hybridoma cultures. This formulation is modified to include phenol red and sodium bicarbonate while remaining free of both L-glutamine and glucose, giving laboratories flexibility to add these components according to specific experimental needs. The ready-to-use liquid format supports consistent preparation of culture systems for leukocyte and hybridoma work. Offered by manufacturer Sartorius, the medium fits standard workflows in cell biology, immunology and biotechnological research where a defined RPMI 1640 base without glucose and glutamine is required. Net content corresponds to 0,500 kg per unit, suitable for routine bench-scale culture applications.

This article is part of Cell culture media & sera, in Cell culture.

Questions about RPMI1640 W/O GLUCOSE 500ML

What is this article?

RPMI1640 W/O GLUCOSE 500ML is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Cell culture media & sera, inside Cell culture, in Microbiology lab supplies.

Cell-culture medium is the liquid a cell line grows in. Serum, often fetal bovine, supplies what the basal medium does not. With or without glutamine, with or without phenol red, and the serum origin are different products. Serum is a cold-chain article and is never part of free standard delivery.

Cell culture grows cells outside the body. The medium, often with serum, supplies what the flask does not. A flask or a dish is the vessel, treated so the cells attach or left untreated so they float. Contamination by microbes, or by another cell line, is the ordinary failure. Cold-chain articles in this work, including serum, are never part of free standard delivery. Lines are catalogued by ATCC. Papers are on PubMed. Practice is summarised by the WHO laboratory biosafety topic.
