Ils servent également de stabilisateurs dans la production de latex et sont utilisés dans la polymérisation en émulsion pour la fabrication de liants. Les tensioactifs Tergitol 15-S présentent une excellente résistance aux environnements très alcalins et ne forment pas de sels, même dans l'eau dure.
