ROTI®Blue is een colloïdaal Coomassie® brilliant blue G250-kleuringsmiddel voor proteïnen in polyacrylamidegels. Dankzij de colloïdale eigenschappen kan het kleuringsmiddel met hoge specificiteit aan de proteïnen binden en slechts minimaal aan de gelmatrix. Uitgebreide wasstappen voor het ontkleuren van de achtergrond zijn niet meer nodig.

ROTI®Blue is ongeveer 5x gevoeliger dan standaard Coomassie®-kleuringsoplossingen. De kleuringstijd bedraagt 2 tot 12 uur, afhankelijk van de gewenste bandintensiteit. Omdat proteïnen gekleurd kunnen worden zonder de gel te fixeren, zijn membraanoverdracht en gelelutie na de kleuring nog steeds mogelijk. Bijzonder geschikt voor kleuring voorafgaand aan MS-analyses (bijv. MALDI) en voorafgaand aan gelelutie.
