Deze gellaadbuffer is gebaseerd op een met triethanolamine gebufferde, gebruiksklare oplossing, waarin het standaard natriumdodecylsulfaat (SDS) is vervangen door lithiumdodecylsulfaat (LDS). Bij lage temperaturen is LDS veel beter oplosbaar dan SDS. Hierdoor treedt er geen kristallisatie van LDS op en worden de eiwitstabiliteit en de bandresolutie aanzienlijk verbeterd. Bovendien is de formulering van ROTI\u003csup\u003e®\u003c\/sup\u003eLoad 3 (LDS) geoptimaliseerd voor kant-en-klare gels, in het bijzonder Q-PAGE™-gels, maar ook voor kant-en-klare gels van andere standaardleveranciers.
