Description
Drill head for carcass sampling is a meat sampling tool designed for bacteriological examination of carcass surfaces. Shaped like a cork borer, it enables destructive punch sampling—also known as the cork-borer or excision method—to remove a circular tissue disc of 5 cm² from the surface. The cutting face has a diameter of 25 mm and supports sampling in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17604:2015-12. A sharp stainless-steel cutting edge allows clean excision of the sample piece; after punching, the disc is detached with a scalpel and forceps. A hole in the crown prevents air compression and helps eject the specimen. The hexagonal shank fits standard bit holders or chucks on cordless screwdrivers and drills. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Bürkle, the sampler is readily sterilizable by flaming or steam. Beyond slaughterhouses and butcheries required to monitor process hygiene on cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses, it is also useful in histology, medicine, food and beverage work, dairies and agriculture wherever defined surface tissue samples are needed.

Questions about Drill head for carcass sampling
What is this article?
Drill head for carcass sampling is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bürkle for laboratory use. It sits in Other lab tools & accessories, inside Tools & accessories, in Labware.
This shelf is the bench tools that do not belong to a narrower rack: odd holders, small aids, pieces that complete a setup. The useful check is what the tool touches, and whether that contact adds a contaminant.
The small tools of the bench are what the hand actually holds: a spatula for a powder, forceps for an object that must stay clean, a brush for a narrow neck, a desiccator when a dried sample must not take up water again. None of these reads a measurement. They keep the measurement possible. The apparatus around them is listed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
