Description
DURAN® KPG® stirrer shaft WS, Ø 10 mm, is an interchangeable precision glass component for laboratory stirring. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, this shaft is 410 mm long and features a ground and polished running surface. KPG® stirrer assemblies comprise a KPG® stirrer shaft paired with a KPG® bearing sleeve. Both parts are manufactured to high accuracy and uniformity within defined tolerances for nominal diameter and fit; careful controls maintain these tolerances so that shafts and sleeves remain fully interchangeable. The small bearing clearance between the running surfaces enables, with suitable lubrication, near-absolute sealing and completely quiet running. KPG® stirrer systems from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences provide a practical alternative to magnetic stirrers when reaction vessels are inaccessible from below, when highly viscous reaction mixtures must be agitated, or when high stirring speeds are required. Typical applications include stirring liquids during syntheses and operation at elevated stirring rates. The component is supplied as one piece for integration into compatible KPG® bearing setups.
This article is part of Overhead stirrers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about DURAN® KPG® Stirrer Shaft, WS, Ø 10 mm, interchangeable
What is this article?
DURAN® KPG® Stirrer Shaft, WS, Ø 10 mm, interchangeable is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Overhead stirrers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.
An overhead stirrer drives a shaft from above, for volumes and viscosities a magnetic bar cannot move. Torque and speed range are the ratings. The chuck and the stand are part of using it. A high-speed disperser is a different head.
Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
