Description
DURAN® mixing cylinder 50 ml with hexagonal base is a class A volumetric vessel with blue graduations and batch certificate. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, it is used for diluting solutions and mixing several components in defined volume ratios. The cylinder is adjusted to contain (In) at the +20 °C reference temperature. Uniform wall thickness over the full measuring range avoids wedge errors. A large hexagonal foot with three base knobs gives standing stability and prevents rolling. An ergonomic polyethylene stopper and NS 19/26 ground joint ensure quick, secure opening and a tight seal. The fired-on blue scale with line graduations and main-point ring marks remains permanently legible. Volume tolerances meet class A limits according to DIN and ISO. Class A cylinders carrying a batch number are supplied with a batch certificate that records mean value, standard deviation and issue date; certificates are also available online. The four-digit batch code indicates production year and batch. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the cylinder supports liquid measurement, solution preparation and general volumetry. To preserve accuracy, do not heat these glass products above +250 °C in drying ovens or sterilizers.
This article is part of Mixing cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate
What is this article?
DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Mixing cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A mixing cylinder is a graduated cylinder with a stopper, so a dilute solution can be shaken in the vessel it was measured in. It is coarser than a volumetric flask and more convenient when many dilutions are made by hand.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
