Description

Erlenmeyer flask, 2000 ml, GL 45, with screw cap and 4 baffles is a large-volume laboratory vessel intended for culture, mixing and aeration tasks. Constructed from borosilicate glass 3.3, it combines chemical durability with excellent thermal shock resistance. The flask is equipped with a GL 45 thread and a PBT screw cap that incorporates a PTFE-coated seal stable up to +200 °C. Four internal baffles generate strong turbulence under shaking conditions, enhancing gas exchange and keeping solids or cells uniformly suspended. Nominal volume is 2 l and net weight is 0,700 kg, making the unit practical for pilot-scale media preparation, microbial fermentation and cell-culture expansion. During autoclaving the screw cap must remain only loosely seated and must not be closed tightly. Supplied by manufacturer Rettberg, this baffled Erlenmeyer flask provides reliable performance for research, development and production laboratories that need robust glassware with defined mixing characteristics.

This article is part of Erlenmeyer flasks, in Beakers & flasks.

What is this article?

Erlenmeyer flask, 2000 ml, GL 45, with screw cap and 4 baffles is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Rettberg for laboratory use. It sits in Erlenmeyer flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

An Erlenmeyer, or conical, flask has a flat base and a narrowing wall so a liquid can be swirled. It is the ordinary culture and titration flask. A baffled wall is a different article, used when the swirl must turn the liquid over.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
