Description
T-SP-1 T spindle 1 is an individual spindle designed for viscosity measurement of non-flowing samples. It can be used only in combination with the motorised HELISTAND stand together with the corresponding nut and coupling. When paired with HELISTAND, T-spindles are especially suitable for materials such as creams, pastes or gelatine, where conventional rotational methods are less effective. The complete T-SP-SET that includes nut and coupling is already part of the HELISTAND set as well as all ROTAVISC HELI packages from manufacturer IKA. This configuration supports controlled vertical travel through the sample, delivering consistent measurement conditions for semi-solid and highly viscous matrices commonly encountered in laboratory rheology. The spindle is supplied as a single piece and integrates directly into existing IKA viscosity workflows that utilise the HELISTAND system. Compact packaging and a net weight of 0,072 kg make it a practical spare or replacement component for routine laboratory use. Storage is specified for ambient laboratory conditions within the stated temperature window.
This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Questions about T-SP-1, T spindle 1
What is this article?
T-SP-1, T spindle 1 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.
A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.
Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
