Description

T-SP-coupling is an individual replacement coupling from the T-spindle set, intended for secure attachment of T-spindles to a viscometer. Only when used together with the matching T-SP-nut can T-spindles be fastened reliably to the instrument. The complete T-SP-SET, comprising both nut and coupling, is included in the HELISTAND Set as well as in all ROTAVISC HELI Packages from manufacturer IKA. In combination with the motorised HELISTAND stand, T-spindles are especially suitable for measuring non-flowing samples such as creams, pastes or gelatine. This single spare coupling provides a practical option for laboratories that need to replace a worn or missing component without ordering an entire set. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,080 kg, it supports consistent mounting in routine viscosity and rheology workflows. The coupling helps maintain stable spindle connection during measurements of highly viscous or structured materials that do not flow freely under gravity, ensuring reproducible positioning throughout the test cycle.

This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Questions about T-SP-coupling, T spindle coupling

What is this article?

T-SP-coupling, T spindle coupling is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.

A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.

Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
