Voor het bewaken en analyseren van microbiële besmetting in de lucht, in het bijzonder in gevoelige hygiënische ruimten. Werkt volgens het impactieprincipe: aangezogen lucht komt in contact met een kweekbodem waaraan micro-organismen hechten. De daaropvolgende cultivatie in de petrischaal toont de microbiologische belasting aan.
Toepassing: farmaceutische industrie (bewaking van het kiemgetal onder de laminaire flowkast; analyse van de reinheid van een cleanroom; testen van de effectiviteit van sterilisatie), voedingsmiddelen- en drankenindustrie (detectie van microbiële besmetting in de cleanroom volgens het HACCP-concept), ziekenhuizen (detectie van pathogene micro-organismen in operatiekamers, apotheken, opslagruimten of intensive care units), elektrische industrie (meting van deeltjes en microbiële besmetting in cleanrooms)
