Fluorescent dye with specific DNA-binding capacity. Like ethidium bromide it intercalates between base pair stacks of DNA. Used for detection of mycoplasms in cell cultures, for quantitative DNA measurement and for chromosome counter staining. In Annexin staining it is used for counter staining of the nuclei (detection of apoptotic cells).
