Description

A 11.3 is a stainless-steel beater intended for crushing hard substances up to Mohs hardness 9 in laboratory sample preparation. The tool is manufactured from stainless steel 1.4112 with a chromium carbide coating, giving the cutting edges the durability needed for demanding grinding work. It is supplied as a separate accessory and is not included in the standard scope of delivery of the A 11 basic mill. The compact beater is suited to hard minerals, ceramics and similarly resistant materials that require impact reduction before further analysis. Used with the matching grinding system from manufacturer IKA, it supports reproducible size reduction in research and quality-control laboratories. Net weight is only 0,006 kg, so the component remains easy to handle and exchange. Choose this beater when your protocol calls for reliable mechanical disintegration of hard solids without compromising chemical compatibility of the stainless working surface.

This article is part of Mills, grinders & homogenisers, in Test sieves & mills.

Questions about A 11.3, Beater, stainless steel

What is this article?

A 11.3, Beater, stainless steel is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Mills, grinders & homogenisers, inside Test sieves & mills, in Lab instruments.

A mill, grinder or homogeniser reduces particle size or breaks a tissue before an extraction. The rotor and the sieve insert decide the result. A knife mill and a bead mill are different machines. The sample has to tolerate the heat the motor puts into it.

A test sieve sorts particles by whether they pass an opening. Wire mesh and perforated plate are two ways of making that opening, and the nominal size is not a suggestion. A sieve shaker repeats the motion so the result does not depend on how hard someone shook by hand. A mill or grinder makes the particles smaller before they are sieved. The certificate of the sieve, and the opening size, are what an audit asks for. Measurement practice around mass and dimension sits with the BIPM, EURAMET and BELAC.
