Description

BOLA disc stirrer shafts combine a PTFE-coated stainless steel shaft with a disc-shaped stirring blade carrying six radial stirring wings made entirely of PTFE, in a geometry similar to a Rushton turbine. Overall length is 1000 mm with a shaft diameter of 10 mm and a clamping diameter of 8 mm for secure coupling to laboratory stirrer drives. The disc outer diameter is 180 mm, and the wing dimensions follow the reference layout A–B–C–D of 180 mm, 36 mm, 4 mm and 45 mm. Because the process medium contacts only PTFE, the assembly offers broad chemical resistance for demanding mixing tasks. It is designed for vessels with nominal width NW 200 and supports efficient radial flow in propeller- and turbine-style stirring. Net weight is 0,686 kg. This configuration from manufacturer Bohlender suits routine and specialized agitation where inert wetted surfaces and stable mechanical performance are required. Supplied as one piece for laboratory use.

This article is part of Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?

BOLA Discs Stirrer Shafts, L 1000 mm Ø 10 mm aØ 180 mm Fluoroplastic-jacketed st is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A shaft, a propeller or an impeller is the wetted end of an overhead stirrer. The diameter and the pitch decide whether the liquid turns over. The material, stainless steel or PTFE, decides what the liquid may be. The chuck size has to match the stirrer.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
