Description

BOLA PTFE heat-shrink tubing is intended for protecting temperature sensors, cables and electrical components against chemical influences. With a shrink ratio of 4:1, the expanded inner diameter of 9,5 mm reduces to about one quarter of the original size, reaching a minimum outer diameter of 2,5 mm after shrinking, while length contracts by no more than 15 %. The wall thickness after recovery is 0,30 mm, favouring efficient heat transfer through the thin PTFE layer. Supplied in a 1 m length and weighing 0,008 kg net, this tubing from manufacturer Bohlender uses polytetrafluoroethylene for broad chemical resistance in laboratory and industrial assemblies. Expanded inner diameter is specified as 9,5 mm (3/8''), contracting to a minimum outer diameter of 2,5 mm. The format suits insulation and chemical shielding of thermocouples, leads and compact electronic parts where a reliable 4:1 recovery and low residual wall mass are needed.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about BOLA Heat-Shrinkable Tubing, max. iØ 9,5 mm -> min. 2,5 mm PTFE, shrinking

What is this article?

BOLA Heat-Shrinkable Tubing, max. iØ 9,5 mm -> min. 2,5 mm PTFE, shrinking is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
