Description

DURAN® desiccator with knob lid, flat flange and without connection (DN 250) is a vacuum-suitable laboratory vessel with ground joint lid intended for storage of moisture-sensitive substances and drying of moist products. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, the unit combines chemical resistance with thermal stability for routine laboratory applications. A metal or porcelain sieve plate divides the lower section of the base, allowing desiccant to bind humidity from samples positioned above. This version is supplied without a stopcock connection; when a stopcock is fitted, vacuum can be applied to accelerate drying because lower pressure promotes faster evaporation. Proper greasing of the flat ground joint facilitates lid release after evacuation. All DURAN® desiccators from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are vacuum-resistant and suitable for full vacuum down to 0 mbar. Massive wall thickness and precisely machined vacuum-tight joints support prolonged vacuum storage. Replacement lids, bases, stopcocks and closures remain compatible and interchangeable provided the DN rating is matched. Typical uses include removal of moisture from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials, vacuum drying processes and safe operation under reduced pressure. Supplied as 1 piece with a net weight of 6,18 kg.

Questions about DURAN® Desiccator, with knobbed lid, with flat flange, no connection

What is this article?

DURAN® Desiccator, with knobbed lid, with flat flange, no connection is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Reaction vessels & jacketed vessels, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A reaction vessel is the flask a synthesis actually runs in, sometimes jacketed so a fluid can heat or cool the wall. The joints, the working volume and the jacket connections are the specification. It is not a storage bottle.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
