Description

DURAN® filter flask with side tubulature, bottle shape and 20 l nominal volume functions as the filtrate receiver in vacuum filtration set-ups. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3 with heavy wall construction, the vessel is fully vacuum-capable. Vacuum is introduced through the side tubulature fitted with a glass or plastic olive, and the large neck accepts a rubber sleeve plus filter funnel. Bottle-shaped geometry is employed for all capacities above 2000 ml; the flask is offered by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences. The tubulated design has both simplified laboratory workflows in preparative and analytical settings and reduced the risk of mishaps. A white print image is permanently fired into the glass. The product satisfies the stipulations of the equipment and product safety legislation. It is routinely employed for aspirating liquids, performing filtration at reduced pressure and conducting safe vacuum work across research and quality-control laboratories.

This article is part of Erlenmeyer flasks, in Beakers & flasks.

Questions about DURAN® Filtering Flask, with side-arm socket, bottle shape

What is this article?

DURAN® Filtering Flask, with side-arm socket, bottle shape is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Erlenmeyer flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

An Erlenmeyer, or conical, flask has a flat base and a narrowing wall so a liquid can be swirled. It is the ordinary culture and titration flask. A baffled wall is a different article, used when the swirl must turn the liquid over.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
