Description
DURAN® measuring cylinder 25 ml with hexagonal base, class A accuracy, blue graduations and ring graduations is precision borosilicate glass 3.3 volumetric ware for receiving and simultaneous measurement of liquid volumes. The large hexagonal foot incorporates three base knobs that deliver high stability and stop the cylinder from rolling. Uniform wall thickness over the entire measuring range prevents wedge errors, while the permanently burned-in blue scale with main-point ring divisions ensures clear, long-lasting readability. Calibration is performed to “In” at the +20 °C reference temperature; volume tolerances meet class A limits according to DIN and ISO. Cylinders of this accuracy class that carry a batch number are accompanied by a batch certificate stating the mean value, standard deviation and issue date (also available online). Typical laboratory uses include measuring liquid quantities, diluting solutions, mixing several components and general volumetry. These glass items from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences should not be heated above +250 °C in drying ovens or sterilizers in order to maintain volumetric integrity. Pack size is one piece.
This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, ring graduations
What is this article?
DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, ring graduations is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
