Description
DURAN® Original laboratory bottle, amber, is a GL 45 multifunction laboratory bottle formed from high-purity USP/EP Type I borosilicate glass 3.3. With a nominal volume of 0,15 l, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a height of 110 mm, this amber bottle protects light-sensitive materials from photodegradation by means of a fused external brown colouration. UV protection extends to approximately 500 nm and meets international USP/EP standards for the full service life of the bottle, while the purely external colouring leaves the internal glass properties unchanged. High-performance materials combined with a robust ISO 4796-1 design deliver excellent thermal behaviour, high chemical resistance and long service life. Each bottle features an easily readable graduated volume scale, a permanent white enamel marking field and a permanently printed Retrace Code for complete manufacturing traceability. Supplied without screw cap and pouring ring in a pack of 10 pieces from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, all components are fully autoclavable at 121 or 134 °C. The standardised GL thread supports matched closure systems for a tight seal and clean pouring. Typical uses include preparation, storage, transport and shipping of light-sensitive materials, autoclaving of media and reagents, and service as a culture vessel.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
