Description
DURAN® DG-ground socket NS 24/29 is a diamond-ground conical joint component that forms the female half of a rigid, self-supporting ground-glass connection. Unlike the finer DIN 12249 Form E sockets, the DG version features a coarser grind with greater roughness depth and serves as a cost-effective alternative for many laboratory applications. The socket is manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 and is designed for use with joint grease or PTFE sleeves to achieve a tight seal; KECK™ conical joint clips provide additional security. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, this DURAN® article is particularly noted for high-vacuum work as well as general incorporation into glass apparatus and instruments. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,052 kg, it remains a glass component intended for further processing and assembly. The standardised NS 24/29 geometry ensures compatibility with matching cones while offering laboratories an economical option when the highest DIN surface finish is not required. Suitable for modular glass systems, vacuum lines and everyday apparatus construction.
This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Socket diamond-ground
What is this article?
DURAN® Standard Socket diamond-ground is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.
A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.
Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
