Description
DURAN® high-temperature screw cap GL 14 is a red laboratory bottle closure manufactured from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and fitted with a PTFE-coated, peroxide-crosslinked silicone gasket. The PTFE-coated seal provides high tightness and superior chemical resistance compared with conventional polypropylene closures, forming a secure seal with the bottle neck. Constructed from PBT, PTFE, silicone and glass fibre, the cap is fully autoclavable at 121 °C or 134 °C and suitable for dry-heat sterilisation. A matching red ETFE pouring ring is available separately to support clean, drip-free dispensing. This GL 14 component from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences complies with current international food-contact regulations. Typical uses include autoclaving and preparation of media and reagents, pressure applications, storage of corrosive reagents, chemical and thermal reactions, long-term archiving of media and reagents, sampling, transport and shipping. Supplied as a single piece, the red high-temperature screw cap delivers durable performance where chemical durability and thermal stability are required in everyday laboratory workflows.

Questions about DURAN® High Temperature Screw Cap (PBT, red)
What is this article?
DURAN® High Temperature Screw Cap (PBT, red) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Screw caps & closures, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.
A screw cap has a thread and a liner. The thread has to match the bottle. The liner has to survive the liquid: a pulp liner fails in a solvent that a PTFE-faced liner ignores. The colour of the cap is not the specification.
A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
