Description
MIX.IX multi-position stirring attachment with nine positions expands the number of stirring stations on the IKA TWISTER from one to nine. The attachment is ideally suited for mixing in small sample vessels with diameters of 23–28 mm and volumes of 8–60 ml. Beneath each of the nine positions sits a dedicated magnetic drive that enables powerful mixing in every individual sample, so speeds of up to 3000 rpm can be reached per position in aqueous solutions. Mixing of higher-viscosity media at lower speeds is also readily possible with this attachment. For reliable magnetic coupling at viscosities above 100 mPas, special elliptical rare-earth magnetic stir bars (IKAFLON 10 / 15 / 20 power ellipse) are available as accessories. The attachment is secured to the base unit with an integrated adhesive pad and can be mounted and demounted as often as required. For easier handling and to prevent sample vessels from tipping, vessel holders TW.IX.28 and TW.IX.23 are recommended as accessories. With a net weight of 0,380 kg, this multi-position stirring attachment from manufacturer IKA supports efficient parallel processing of multiple small-volume samples in everyday laboratory workflows.
This article is part of Magnetic stirrers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about MIX.IX, Multi-position stirring attachment, 9 positions
What is this article?
MIX.IX, Multi-position stirring attachment, 9 positions is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Magnetic stirrers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.
A magnetic stirrer is the motor and the plate under the flask. Many also heat. The stirring capacity is the litres of a water-like liquid it can turn, and a viscous liquid defeats a rating that was measured on water.
Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
