Description

Nalgene™ cylinders with PMP graduations are graduated polymethylpentene measuring cylinders with a metric capacity of 250 ml for laboratory volume work. They meet ASTM Class B accuracy requirements according to E1272 and fulfil CFR 21, Part 177.1520 as well as all requirements of ISO standard 6706. The material is PMP (polymethylpentene). Every size includes a generous pour spout and embossed graduations for durable scale marking. Graduations run from 16 ml to 250 ml in 2 ml increments, with a tolerance of ±2 ml. Calibration is to contain and to deliver. The form is round with a hexagonal base for stable bench placement. These cylinders are autoclavable and rated to a maximum temperature of 145 °C. Manufacturer data list an outer diameter of 1,92 in., an inner diameter of 1,36 in., and a height of 13,9 in. Supplied from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics as a case of 12, they suit routine measuring and mixing tasks where Class B plastic graduated cylinders are specified. Nominal volume is 0,25 l.

This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders

What is this article?

Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
