Description
Precision balance PR4202 is a full-range single-range laboratory balance designed for everyday weighing applications in the laboratory. It provides a maximum capacity of 4,2 kg together with a readability of 0,00001 kg and a repeatability of 0,01 g. The removable stainless-steel pan measures 180 mm in diameter and is enclosed by a removable glass draft shield fitted with a sliding top lid. The instrument features an ABS upper housing, integrated underfloor weighing hook, security loop and adjustment lock from manufacturer Ohaus. Core applications include simple weighing, piece counting and percent weighing. Results are shown on a backlit LCD display, and an RS232 interface is supplied as standard for data transfer. Additional functions comprise selectable environmental filters and brightness control, automatic taring, automatic dimming, user-definable span calibration points, lockout and reset menu, configurable communication and print settings, project and user IDs, as well as overload/underload and stability indicators. Minimum sample weight (USP, 0,1 %, typical) is 20 g. External dimensions are 201 × 317 × 93 mm (W × D × H) and net weight is 3,5 kg.

Questions about Precision Balance PR4202
What is this article?
Precision Balance PR4202 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Ohaus for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.
A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.
A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
