Description

ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II Complete is a rotational viscometer package covering the extended viscosity range 800 – 320.000.000 mPas. Its SBS (Steel Ball Bearing, Suspended) construction employs specialised ball-bearing technology in place of jewel bearings, resulting in outstanding robustness. The instrument is therefore ideal for high sample throughput, frequent spindle exchange, use in demanding surroundings, or frequent changes of location. Simple and complex viscosity measurements alike yield rapid, precise data. Operation is straightforward via the large 4,3″ TFT display with intuitive menus; a digital spirit level supports correct alignment at start-up, and a ramp function eases repetitive work. Accuracy reaches +/- 1 % of the measuring range for Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids, while reproducibility is +/- 0,2 %. Rotational speed may be adjusted continuously or programmed in steps. Supplied as a complete set from manufacturer IKA, the package is ready for immediate laboratory deployment.

This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Questions about ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II Complete, Rotational viscometer package

What is this article?

ROTAVISC SBS hi-vi II Complete, Rotational viscometer package is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.

A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.

Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
