Description

Rotor S-4-104 with four 750 mL round buckets is a high-capacity swing-bucket rotor for Centrifuge 5810 and 5810 R. It delivers a maximum of 3214 × g at 3900 rpm and supports a wide adapter assortment for vessels and bottles from 0,2 mL to 750 mL as well as plates. Aerodynamically designed round buckets enable energy savings of up to 36 % compared with rotor A-4-81, while mixed loading with two plate buckets and two round buckets increases application flexibility. Optional aerosol-tight QuickLock lids allow safer centrifugation of hazardous samples; aerosol tightness has been tested by Public Health England, Porton Down (UK). Buckets, lids and adapters are autoclavable at 121 °C for 20 min. This complete rotor set from manufacturer Eppendorf includes four 750 mL round buckets and is intended for high-throughput laboratory workflows. Please note that older centrifuges may require a software upgrade before this rotor can be used; contact your local Eppendorf organisation or dealer for details.

What is this article?

ROTOR 4x750ML W/BUCKETS, S-4-104 (5810/R is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Eppendorf for laboratory use. It sits in Rotors, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

A centrifuge rotor is the rotating part that holds the tubes, and it is rated for a maximum speed and a maximum load. A swing-out rotor and a fixed-angle rotor pellet differently. A rotor from another centrifuge does not belong on this drive, even when it seems to fit.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
