Description
DURAN® desiccator base with threaded connection (GL 32) and flat flange is a vacuum-compatible laboratory vessel component for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. Made of borosilicate glass 3.3, this MOBILEX-type base in DN 300 receives a drying agent in its lower section, separated by a perforated plate of metal or porcelain on which the material to be dried is placed. The desiccant binds moisture from the sample. Applying vacuum via a stopcock connection accelerates drying because reduced pressure speeds evaporation of liquid. All DURAN® desiccators from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are vacuum-tight and can be used up to the technically maximum possible vacuum. The flat ground flange must be well greased so the lid can be released more easily after evacuation, when external pressure presses the cover firmly onto the base. The base is compatible with all MOBILEX lid types that carry a GL 32 thread. It is suited to moisture removal from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials, vacuum drying applications and safe work under vacuum in the laboratory.
