Description

DURAN® desiccator base, NOVUS type (NS 24/29), with flat flange is a vacuum-suitable laboratory glassware component for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. This DN 200 lower part is manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 and incorporates a flat flange that forms a reliable seal with matching lids. A sieve plate of metal or porcelain separates the lower chamber, where desiccant is placed to bind humidity from samples resting above. Vacuum can be applied via a stopcock connection to accelerate drying, as reduced pressure speeds evaporation of residual liquid. The standard ground-joint system ensures a tight closure; the flat flange should be well greased to facilitate lid release after evacuation. All DURAN® desiccators are vacuum-resistant up to the technically maximum possible vacuum and are compatible with all lid types. This NOVUS base from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is ideal for removing moisture from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials, and safe vacuum-drying applications. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 3,216 kg.

This article is part of Reaction vessels & jacketed vessels, in Beakers & flasks.

Questions about DURAN® Desiccator Base, NOVUS Type (NS 24/29), with flat flange

What is this article?

DURAN® Desiccator Base, NOVUS Type (NS 24/29), with flat flange is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Reaction vessels & jacketed vessels, inside Beakers & flasks, in Matériel de laboratoire.

A reaction vessel is the flask a synthesis actually runs in, sometimes jacketed so a fluid can heat or cool the wall. The joints, the working volume and the jacket connections are the specification. It is not a storage bottle.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
