Description
DURAN® desiccator with knob lid, flat flange and without connection is a vacuum-compatible laboratory vessel for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3 in nominal diameter DN 100, it holds a drying agent in the lower base section beneath a perforated plate of metal or porcelain; the sample rests on this plate while the desiccant binds moisture. Vacuum can be applied through a stopcock connection to accelerate drying, as lower pressure promotes faster evaporation. Thanks to substantial wall thickness and precisely ground vacuum-tight joints on lid and base, storage under vacuum is possible over extended periods. All DURAN® desiccators from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences withstand full vacuum down to 0 mbar. The flat ground flange should be well greased to ease lid release after evacuation. Lids, bases, stopcocks and closures are interchangeable within the same DN. Ideal applications include moisture removal from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials, vacuum drying and safe laboratory work under vacuum.
