Made of borosilicate glass 3.3, the flask incorporates four base baffles that interrupt laminar flow and generate turbulence. This enlarges the liquid surface and gas-exchange area, doubling oxygen transfer relative to a standard Erlenmeyer flask under comparable shaking conditions. Higher shaking speeds promote stronger aeration and bacterial growth, while lower speeds deliver gentle mixing suited to sensitive cell cultures. Fully automated production ensures geometric reproducibility and consistent experimental conditions; increased wall thickness confers excellent mechanical stability and long service life. The two-stage manufacturing process forms a complete thread, allowing reliable sealing with the proven membrane closure from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences for more reproducible gas exchange than cotton plugs. A permanent white graduated scale permits easy volume reading.
