Cette colonne HPLC est remplie d'une modification aminopropyle polaire, basée sur un gel de silice NUCLEODUR® de haute pureté. Cette phase HPLC est capable de générer un comportement de rétention clairement reconnaissable par rapport aux modifications de surface purement alkyl-fonctionnalisées. Outre les modifications cyano, les modifications amino font partie des phases de silice polaires les plus fréquemment utilisées. Les phases amino peuvent être utilisées en mode RP avec des éluants organo-aqueux ainsi qu'en mode NP, par exemple avec de l'hexane comme phase mobile. La chromatographie par échange d'anions d'anions et d'acides organiques à l'aide de tampons courants (par exemple, acétate ou phosphate) en combinaison avec des modificateurs organiques (par exemple, acétonitrile) est également possible.
