Description

Nalgene™ metric phthalate-free PVC tubing is clear, flexible laboratory tubing intended for leak-tight connections with metric fittings. Fabricated from high-quality resins and orthophthalate-free plasticisers, it supports consistent purity and quality in everyday fluid pathways. This size specifies an 8 mm inner diameter, 11 mm outer diameter and 1,5 mm wall thickness, supplied as a single 25 m length. The tubing is autoclavable and can also be sterilised by gas or chemical methods. Hardness is Durometer 60 (A), with flexibility defined by a bend radius of four times the outer diameter. Maximum working pressure is 179 kPa at 23 °C and 89 kPa at 51 °C; maximum operating temperature is 71 °C, and the vacuum level is rated very low. From manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, the product meets FDA CFR21 food-packaging requirements together with USP Class VI, cytotoxicity, REACH, latex-free, RoHS and California Proposition 65 expectations for reliable laboratory and process tubing applications.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about Nalgene™ Metric Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Metric Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Tuyaux PVC, PTFE & autres, inside Tubes, tuyaux et raccords, in Matériel de laboratoire.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
