ROTI®CELL RPMI-1640, sterile, with stable glutamine, 500 ml, plastic

RPMI-1640 was developed for the cultivation of normal and neoplastic human leukocytes and is based on modified amounts of amino acids and vitamins. RPMI-1640 Medium is very well suited for culturing of a wide range of mammalian suspension cell lines and primary lymphocytes, all leucocytes, B- and T-lymphocytes, as well as myeloma- and hybridoma cells.

Generally, FBS is added to RPMIl media. However, it has been shown that RPMI media also support several cell lines in the absence of serum.

This modification of RPMI contains stable glutamine, but no pyruvate.

Stable glutamine is present as the dipeptide L-alanyl-L-glutamine. Due to its reinforced structure, this form of glutamine is not temperature sensitive, unlike normal L-glutamine, and therefore does not spontaneously decompose to toxic ammonia. Cells are able to break down this dipeptide bond and release L-glutamine as needed. Thus, the low ammonia concentration improves cell viability and growth. In addition, the concentration of L-glutamine is kept constant.Stable gluatmine has already been added to some cell culture media, but can also be purchased as a separate additive solution, the ROTI^®Cell Glutamine Solution.
