C 6000.1 Water protect is a ready-to-use water-treatment solution designed to suppress the growth of microorganisms in laboratory calorimeters, incubators and water baths. Bacteria, fungi and yeasts multiply rapidly in tempered water, forming biofilms and deposits that clog tubing and filters and impair instrument performance. Frequent water changes reduce this risk but are labour-intensive. This 100 ml formulation from manufacturer IKA contains surfactants, quaternary ammonium compounds and complexing agents that keep the water tank clean for up to four weeks under the recommended conditions. Active substances are present at less than 0,1 % Bardap 26 and less than 0,1 % diamine; the product is free from aldehydes and azides and does not evaporate. A built-in colour indicator changes from blue to yellow when microbial contamination occurs, signalling that a water change is required. The solution also helps limit limescale deposits, supporting reliable long-term operation of IKA calorimeters and related temperature-controlled equipment.
