DURAN® Spherical Joint Socket S 29/12, imperial size is a precision glass component designed to form flexible connections in laboratory glass assemblies. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3 and conforming to DIN 12244 and DIN 12264, this spherical joint socket permits bendable joints of up to 15° depending on joint size. Beyond 5° a reduction in sealing performance is to be expected. The nominal size combines the nominal diameter of the spherical ground joint with the clear tube diameter where applicable. Ground-joint grease or PTFE sleeves should be used with the connection; spherical joint clamps with locking screws are the recommended means of securing the joint. The higher flexibility also improves releasability.
