ROTI®Aquatest-platen zijn bereide voedingsbodemplaten met een diameter van 55 mm. Ze zijn hiermee aangepast aan de grootte van membraanfilters voor het testen van kiemarme vloeistoffen door middel van de membraanfiltratiemethode. Ze zijn ook toepasbaar voor de microbiologische analyse van monsters in het algemeen. De kiemen van verwachte kiemarme vloeistofmonsters worden geconcentreerd door middel van membraanfiltratie. Vervolgens wordt het membraan op de voedingsbodem geplaatst en geïncubeerd. Het gebruik van een membraan met een raster helpt bij het tellen van de resulterende kolonies.
Monsters waarvan een hogere microbiologische belasting wordt verwacht, worden voorbereid in een seriële verdunning. Daarna wordt elke verdunningsstap uitgeplaat en geïncubeerd. Het aantal gegroeide kolonies wordt genoteerd als resultaat.
De R2A Agar (Art.nr. CL01) wordt aanbevolen door de Ph. Eur. voor het tellen van heterotrofe bacteriën.
