De Romer Labs Sponge-Stick is een 3″ x 1.5″ (7.5 cm x 3.5 cm) gecomprimeerde cellulosespons die is bevestigd aan een snel-losmaakhandvat, voorvochtig gemaakt met 10 ml buffer naar keuze en individueel verpakt in een monsterzakje (Twirl-Tie™). Het snel-losmaakhandvat biedt een extra niveau van gemak en betrouwbaarheid. Het is ontworpen om de spons na monstername in het monsterzakje los te maken, zodat alleen de spons naar het laboratorium wordt teruggestuurd. Onnodige onderdelen die de monsterverwerking kunnen verstoren, worden zo geëlimineerd.
