Waarom FFP-maskers & stofmaskers?

An FFP mask is a filtering facepiece with a particle class, FFP1, FFP2 or FFP3, in rising filtration. It is for dust and aerosols, not for a gas or a vapour. A valve makes exhalation easier and does not filter the outward breath. The mask has to be fitted to the face, or the air goes around it.

A respirator filters the air the person breathes, or supplies other air. An FFP mask is a particle filter worn on the face. A half-mask or a full-face mask takes cartridges, and the cartridge is chosen for the gas or the particle. The mask that is not sealed to the face does not filter. Fit is part of the product. Standards are listed under ISO respiratory protection. The rule is the PPE Regulation. Workplace practice is EU-OSHA.
