Heat-protection gloves for autoclave use are protective gloves manufactured from Nomex III fibres, combining heat-resistant aromatic and non-melting polyamides without asbestos. Under normal working conditions the physical properties remain intact for several hours at 260 °C, and temperatures up to 370 °C are tolerated before degradation sets in. Exposure to flames does not melt or dissolve the material; it carbonises and forms a crust that continues to protect. Brief handling of items stored in nitrogen vapour at −180 °C is possible when contact is not continuous. Resistance covers bases, acids and organic products, but not certain concentrated inorganic acids during prolonged contact. This size S version with 30 cm overall length is offered as one pair from manufacturer Labbox and complies with EN 407, EN 388 and EN 21420:2020. Double material thickness and low thermal conductivity support safe work in very hot surroundings; gloves should be kept dry, as moisture in the fibres can transfer heat.
