DURAN® desiccator base, NOVUS type (NS 24/29), with flat flange is a vacuum-compatible laboratory vessel lower part intended for the storage of moisture-sensitive substances and the drying of moist products. This DN 250 base is produced from borosilicate glass 3.3 and features a flat flange for a secure seal with corresponding lids. Desiccant is introduced into the lower section, separated by a metal or porcelain sieve plate, where it binds humidity from samples placed above. Connecting vacuum through a stopcock accelerates the drying process because lower internal pressure promotes faster evaporation. The ground-joint design provides a dense closure; proper greasing of the flat flange eases lid removal after evacuation. All DURAN® desiccators remain vacuum-tight up to the technically maximum achievable vacuum and accept all lid types.
