Iron Standard Solution is a metallo-organic standard containing 1000 mg/kg iron (Fe) in 20 cSt hydrocarbon oil, presented in the ROTI®Star range for analytical chemistry. It belongs to the group of standards for AAS and ICP and is intended for work in which iron is measured in an oil-type matrix. The 50 ml pack comes from manufacturer Carl ROTH as a liquid standard in 20 cSt hydrocarbon oil. Physical properties of the 20 cSt carrier include a density of 0,862 g/cm³, a flash point of 115 °C and a boiling point above 218 °C. Laboratories use metallo-organic iron standards to prepare calibration solutions and to verify instrument response when determining iron in hydrocarbon-oil and related organic samples by atomic absorption spectrometry or inductively coupled plasma methods. The 1000 mg/kg Fe level in 20 cSt hydrocarbon oil can be diluted to working concentrations for a given AAS or ICP procedure while remaining in an oil medium.
