Magnesium Standard Solution is a metallo-organic standard containing 1000 mg/kg magnesium in 20 cSt hydrocarbon oil. The preparation is listed among analytical chemicals and among standards for AAS and ICP, and it is offered in the ROTI®Star range. A 50 ml pack with a weight of 0,100 kg is supplied from manufacturer Carl ROTH for laboratory use as an oil-based magnesium reference. The hydrocarbon oil matrix is specified at 20 cSt, and the solution shows a density of 0,862 g/cm³, a flash point of 115 °C and a boiling point greater than 218 °C. Magnesium is present at 1000 mg/kg Mg in the ROTI®Star hydrocarbon oil matrix of this standard solution. Laboratories working with atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) methods can employ this metallo-organic magnesium standard when a hydrocarbon oil matrix is required. Physical constants (density, flash point and boiling point) characterise the 20 cSt hydrocarbon oil in which the analyte is dissolved. The 50 ml ROTI®Star unit provides 1000 mg/kg Mg in hydrocarbon oil.
