Niet-giftige en niet-carcinogene kleurstoffen voor fluorescente kleuring van nucleïnezuren in agarose- en polyacrylamidegels. Zeer gevoelig en toe te passen net als ethidiumbromide.
De ROTI®GelStain-kleurstoffen worden gebruikt als additieven aan de geloplossing en de loopbuffer; deels is ook kleuring na de run mogelijk. Beide ROTI®GelStain-kleurstoffen kunnen worden geëxciteerd door UV-licht en door blauw licht. De resulterende signalen kunnen worden gedetecteerd met breedband-fotofilters voor ethidiumbromide.
ROTI®GelStain is een veelzijdig kleuringsreagens voor de detectie van alle nucleïnezuren in agarose- en polyacrylamidegels.

De kleurstof kan op vergelijkbare wijze als ethidiumbromide worden gebruikt. Door de kleurstof aan de vloeibare gel toe te voegen, worden de nucleïnezuren tijdens de gelrun gekleurd. ROTI®GelStain heeft een gevoeligheid van 0,2 ng/band en is daarmee zelfs iets gevoeliger dan ethidiumbromide. Bij binding aan nucleïnezuren in agarosegels emitteert ROTI®GelStain een heldergroene fluorescentie die kan worden gedocumenteerd door alle gebruikelijke breedband-fotofilters voor ethidiumbromide of SYBR® Green. ROTI®-GelStain is compatibel met alle standaard down-stream toepassingen en is met succes getest voor gebruik bij gelextractie, ligatie, transformatie en transfectie.
