De bindingscapaciteit van het spinfilter is, vergeleken met gebruikelijke plasmide-mini-kits, aanzienlijk verhoogd (ca. 80 μg plasmide-DNA) en maakt nu een plasmide-extractie mogelijk uit 0,5-15 ml bacteriecultuur. Omdat de filterafmetingen overeenkomen met de gebruikelijke miniprep-spinfilters, wijkt de toepassing slechts licht af van andere plasmide-mini-kits. Het grootste verschil is de voorafgaande handige lysis in een 15 ml-buis.

De elutie, die resulteert in hoog geconcentreerd zuiver DNA in 100 μl, vindt vervolgens plaats in een 1,5 ml-buis, zoals in standaard mini-kits. Het geïsoleerde DNA is vrij van RNA- of eiwitcontaminatie en kan direct worden gebruikt voor alle standaard downstream-toepassingen zoals restrictievertering, sequencing, in vitro transcriptie, transfectie enz.
