Description

Septum N20 shaped disc Butyl/PTFE grey is a formed sealing disc for laboratory vial systems with an N 20 neck finish. It is built as a grey butyl/PTFE laminate with a hardness of 50° Shore A and a septum thickness of 3,0 mm, giving a defined elastic body and an inert PTFE face toward the sample. The formed-disc geometry is intended to seat cleanly in matching N 20 closures used for sample storage and instrumental work. Each pack contains 100 pieces, which supports efficient replenishment in busy analytical environments. Offered by manufacturer Macherey-Nagel, this septum belongs to standard labware consumables for chromatography and general sample handling. The butyl layer provides the resealing elasticity needed after needle penetration, while the PTFE coating limits direct contact between the elastomer and vial contents. With calibrated thickness and specified Shore hardness, the disc helps laboratories maintain consistent sealing behaviour from vial to vial. It is suitable wherever N 20 butyl/PTFE grey septa of 3,0 mm thickness are required as replaceable sealing elements in professional laboratory workflows.

This article is part of Vial caps & septa, in Vials, caps & septa.

Questions about Septa N20 Mld. But/PTFE gr, 50°, 3.0

What is this article?

Septa N20 Mld. But/PTFE gr, 50°, 3.0 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Vial caps & septa, inside Vials, caps & septa, in Chromatography equipment.

A vial cap and a septum have to match the vial neck: crimp, screw or snap, and the diameter. The septum material, PTFE/silicone or rubber, decides chemical resistance and how many times a needle can pierce it. A septum that sheds into the solvent becomes ghost peaks.

An autosampler vial is the small closed bottle a chromatograph picks up. The neck is crimp, screw or snap, and the cap and the septum have to be that neck. The septum is the part the needle pierces. A soft septum reseals. A septum that is wrong for the solvent swells or sheds particles into the sample. Inserts reduce the volume when the sample is scarce. The separation they feed is described with IUPAC names and PubChem data.
