Description
Lithium iodide is an anhydrous analytical-grade (p.a.) inorganic salt with a minimum purity of 99,5 %, CAS number 10377-51-2, EG number 233-822-5 and empirical formula LiI. Its molar mass is 133,85 g/mol and its density is 4,079 g/cm³; the boiling point is 1171 °C. The salt is packed as 50 g in plastic, a practical size for analytical and general inorganic laboratory work. As a p.a. salt for analysis, lithium iodide is used where a high-purity lithium halide is required in qualitative or quantitative procedures, inorganic synthesis support, and routine salt chemistry. The anhydrous specification indicates that the product is offered without water of crystallisation, which is relevant when moisture-sensitive preparations are planned. This material is available from manufacturer Carl ROTH in the 50 g plastic pack described here. Users in analytical laboratories can employ the salt as a reagent according to their validated methods.
