Description
Tris-(2-carboxyethyl)-phosphine, hydrochloride, min. 98 %, biochemistry, Molar mass (M) 286,65 g/mol, Storage temp. +4 °C, CAS No. 51805-45-9, UN-Nr. 3261, EC No. 629-759-1, Empirical formula C9H15O6P · HCl
TCEP is used in protein biochemistry for reduction of proteins. It is well suitable as bondbreaker of disulfide bonds prior to SDS electrophoresis and may thus replace βMercaptoethanol. Although this reduction process is highly efficient and fast (reduction of disulfide bonds takes few minutes only), TCEP does not affect other bonds or functional groups in the respective proteins. TCEP is nonvolatile, odourless, and resistant to air oxidation.
