Description

BOLA PTFE heat-shrink tubing is intended to shield thermocouples, cables and electrical components from chemical attack. Fabricated from polytetrafluoroethylene, it features a 4:1 shrink ratio from the expanded starting dimension, reducing the inner diameter to roughly one quarter while limiting length reduction to a maximum of 15 %. Expanded inner diameter is 4,7 mm (3/16), minimum shrunk outer diameter is 1,3 mm, and recovered wall thickness is 0,30 mm. The modest wall after shrinkage promotes efficient heat transfer around the protected part. Each unit is supplied as a 3 m length with a net weight of 0,007 kg. Available from manufacturer Bohlender, this heat-shrink sleeve supports laboratory and process instrumentation tasks that demand a thin, chemically resistant PTFE covering after thermal recovery.

This article is part of PVC, PTFE & other tubing, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about BOLA Heat-Shrinkable Tubing, max. iØ 4,7 mm -> min. 1,3 mm PTFE, shrinking

What is this article?

BOLA Heat-Shrinkable Tubing, max. iØ 4,7 mm -> min. 1,3 mm PTFE, shrinking is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
