Description

BOLA Gas Washing Bottle Vitrum GLS 80 is a 1000 ml laboratory gas-washing assembly for controlled gas introduction and fine distribution in chemical and analytical workflows. The complete unit comprises a PTFE base body with a GLS 80 screw cap of PP, two lateral GL 18 threaded connectors, a matching borosilicate glass 3.3 bottle, an FEP gas inlet tube and a gas distributor with fine bores. Hard-walled tubing such as PTFE can be joined resistance-free via optional laboratory fittings on the GL 18 ports; elastic tubing is handled with GL screw olives. A practical design detail is the independently movable screw cap, so the entire head can be loosened or refastened on the bottle without dismantling already connected hoses. Nominal volume is 1 l, overall height 256 mm and net weight 0,5 kg. This Vitrum configuration from manufacturer Bohlender is intended for gas scrubbing, humidification and related gas-handling steps where chemical resistance of the wetted parts and convenient assembly are required. Supplied as one complete bottle unit with the GLS 80 head components.

A wash bottle is a squeeze bottle with a bent delivery tube, used to rinse a precipitate or a electrode with a small directed stream. The liquid inside is usually water or a solvent, and the bottle has to tolerate that liquid.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
